Old Dominion Brewhouse Is Now Open!

University Town Center is pleased to announce that Old Dominion Brewhouse is now open on the Plaza at UTC, 6504 America Boulevard in Hyattsville.

Old Dominion Brewhouse is a full-service restaurant and sports entertainment venue carrying 15 products on tap from Old Dominion Brewing Co. The full-service bar features 32 tap handles serving a wide choice of Dominion products and popular non-Dominion beers. Among the Dominion selections are the popular Dominion Ale, Lager, Aviator, Millennium, Oak Barrel Stout and Seasonal specials. The inclusion of the popular Old Dominion Root Beer on tap is a popular non-alcoholic option and great for making Dominion root beer floats.

The most popular ways to enjoy their fabulous beers are the Dominion Sampler and Dominion Tower. The Dominion Sampler, perfect for those new to Dominion, allows the customer to sample 5 ounce servings of their choice of four beers. The Dominion Tower, the best beer value, is a tall, 133 ounce tube of beer complete with its own custom tap that sits on the customers table.

In addition to the large beer selection, the nearly 6,000 square foot facility features over 15 large screen plasma televisions strategically positioned throughout the restaurant so the customer has a clear view of multiple screens from any seat in the house. The restrooms are even equipped with their own LCD screens so the customer won’t miss any of the action.

Old Dominion Brewhouse is open Friday-Saturday 11:30am-12:30am, Sunday 12pm-11pm, Monday-Wednesday 11:30-11:00pm and Thursday 11:30am-12:00am.

Even more Wednesday night music at UTC

You already know about the free outdoor concerts every Wednesday on Independence Plaza.  Now the fun continues afterwards at Carolina Kitchen Bar and Grill as Lance London presents Jazz Night, every Wednesday from 7:30 p.m. until midnight.

This week's musicians are The Marcus Mitchell Project (outside from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.) and national recording artist Spur of the Moment (at Carolina Kitchen from 7:30 p.m. until midnight).

Gifford's Ice Cream & Candy Co. is now open!

UTC's second grand opening of the week is occurring today, Wednesday, July 23!

Gifford's Ice Cream & Candy Co. has opened its doors on the Plaza at UTC.

Gifford's offers ice cream, shakes, smoothies, candies, and other snacks. Perfect on a hot, humid day like today.

Gifford's is located directly across America Blvd. from the movie theater, two doors down from Wild Onion.

New Town Cleaners is now open!

New Town Cleaners opened yesterday on America Blvd. next to Smoothie King. They offer organic dry cleaning and alteration services.

They are currently offering grand opening specials on dry cleaning orders.

Wild Onion
Wild Onion, a charming 60-seat establishment, is the vision of Chef Rasheed Abdurrahman who is a graduate of the prestigious Culinary Institute of America.  Wild Onion features a delicious menu of tasty comfort foods, spicy ethnic dishes, vegetarian specialties, custom sandwiches, scrumptious baked goods, and organic coffees.  Wild Onion will be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Passionate about food, Chef Abdurrahman will be offering cooking classes.   He is committed to the belief that you can eat well while eating healthy.  "Food is a form of art, and with an organic approach we have an opportunity to present a new art form," said Abdurrahman.   Wild Onion will use wholesome foods from local farmers and suppliers who strive to reduce chemical additives.   "I want to meet the growing demand for healthy eating through the menu selections at Wild Onion.  This restaurant will offer new concepts about how to eat healthy and provide recipes for foods that everyone can enjoy."

Carolina Kitchen Bar and Grill
Carolina Kitchen Bar and Grill, a Southern Carolina low country cooking style restaurant, offers a full complement of southern cooking from corn bread and traditional barbeque to more upscale items as grilled steak and lobster with southern style spices. Carolina Kitchen recently opened next to the Regal Royale Stadium 14 Theatre and can seat up to 375 people.   The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner with live music Thursday–Saturday evenings.    Based in Largo, MD this is the second location for the restaurant, founded by Lance London.  The exquisite interior combines casual eating spaces with more a formal white tablecloth dining room.  Additionally, there are private dining areas, a fully decorated bar, and spaces for parties and events.

Wild Onion Is Now Open!

Wild Onion held its "soft opening" yesterday, Monday, July 7, on the Plaza at University Town Center.

According to the Wild Onion website, "Chef Rasheed brings a bold, fresh, and original touch to all his culinary creations. Providing the best quality food and service is always his mission."

The restaurant and caterer will open at 10am daily. It joins UTC's other eateries -- Qdoba, Five Guys, Three Brothers, Smoothie King, and Carolina Kitchen.

Meanwhile, a few doors down from Wild Onion, Old Dominion Brewhouse is now hiring, as is Gifford's Ice Cream and Candy Co. More information about these job opportunities can be found by visiting the restaurants' storefronts. Both should be open before the end of the summer. One block down America Blvd., New Town Cleaners is readying for its grand opening later this month.

Welcome welcome welcome, Carolina Kitchen!

The Carolina Kitchen Bar and Grill opened its Hyattsville location today to a busy dinner crowd.  "The proprietor, Lance London, has done an exquisite job in designing this restaurant, combining both casual eating spaces with more formal white tablecloth dining room," said Tim Taylor, VP for Leasing for University Town Center.  The 6,000 square foot restaurant has a full-service bar, dining rooms, and a takeout line.  Beginning next week, Carolina Kitchen will validate parking for their guests.

The menu features soul food and American cuisine, including favorite dishes from the original restaurants and some new items for the new location.  I had a very good meal that was also reasonably priced.  And I've never seen such a friendly and attentive staff - I'm sure it was at least partially due to the grand opening excitement, but it seemed genuine and I hope it will continue.
