Hyattsville mulls meters at University Town Center
"The Hyattsville City Council is considering installing parking meters on the streets of the city's developing University Town Center. The city would assist UTC with installing the short-term parking meters along America Boulevard, Freedom Way and Liberty Lane, which are privately owned by the developers."
"Between 50 and 60 meters would be installed along the UTC’s three roads to give residents who live nearby the ability to park in front of a store and get what they need quickly, said Chris Hanessian, chief operating officer and senior vice president of UTC."
"Hanessian said UTC officials plan to work with the city to iron out the details of the meters, including how much a driver would pay for 20 minutes of street parking. He said he thinks 25 cents is an appropriate price for 20 minutes."
"Gardiner said it would probably be a few weeks before the legislation is drafted and voted on by the council, but he said he hopes to be able to have the meters installed by the end of the year."
