"Development near rail stations around the state is sparse in some areas and abundant in others, such as Montgomery County. Prince George’s officials want more of their stations to look like the area around the Mall at Prince Georges in Hyattsville, one of the few well-developed Metro stops in the county (known by the shopping center’s former name, Prince George’s Plaza)."
"University Town Center’s blend of commercial, office and residential space at University Towers, including a movie theater, plus the joint development project with Metro that added more than 150,000 square feet of retail, has morphed Hyattsville into a thriving urban center. With offices open for business during the day, and movies, shopping and dining at night, 'it’s an 18-hour environment,' Gardiner said. 'It’s the county’s first urban destination at a Metro station.'"
"The Prince George’s Plaza station will be the first joint development project with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority completed in the county, expected by early next year. A 259-unit residential phase is under construction, and 300,000 square feet of office space is awaiting financing commitments, according to a WMATA report."
